My Costumes
Hakama Pants

Oh man. I'll tell you now that I've never officially sewed anything in my life before, and without my wonderful aunt translating the directions on how to make them (which was complete gibberish to me), I would've failed miserably. ::huggles Auntie Pam:: You're great, you know that? ^.^

What the heck are hakama? They're Japanese pants (usually formal) that tie over kimonos. They are worn by both men and women, and are seen often in Anime (especially Rurouni Kenshin).

Speaking of Kenshin, that's where I got the idea to make these from. I've always wanted casual wear type costumes, but my sewing machine at home is evil. Yet the one up here works great, and so I can sew, sew, sew. ^^ (Actually I still need to make my dress for graduation... but afterwards shall be more fun sewing. Baha.)

About this pair: These are only a practice set to ensure I know what the heck I’m doing before I begin the final pair. These are made with some junky material my aunt had laying around. The fabric is too flexible and so they don’t quite have the right volume they should. I've generally finished these. All that is left to do is to hem the bottom so I won’t trip over them. ^^;
