Undocumented Squirrel Moments
- In the UCF Marketplace, a squirrel attempted to get inside for food by jumping at the window. Poor thing probably has head trauma now.
- During a study session on the fountain-side grass area, a squirrel stalked us and darted around us searching for food, even climbing on someone's backpack. He was given maple sugar candy, though at first he didn't see it and when I attempted to show it to him he tried to attack my hand. Eventually he started eating the candy and we assumed he liked it. Then, all of a sudden he dropped the candy and darted off at full speed away from us. Wow, some sugar rush.
- After breaking for lunch from taking a final, I watched with an employee one squirrel survey the doors to the Marketplace as he tried to find a way inside. Half-eaten rice crispy treat in had, I stepped outside, staring at the squirrel with a grin as he stared back. I threw him a piece of my food, and he graciously snatched it and took perch on the nearby trashcan. A minute of eating the rather large piece I tossed him, he tired of it and looked to me for more food. I tossed him a smaller piece, but he didn't want it. After realizing I had nothing else to offer him, he quickly scurried off with me in pursuit. I followed him for a moment, teasing him with more rice crispy, until he darted around a coke machine.
